User profile

The "Profile" page holds your personal settings in OpenResi — password, notifications, app appearance, consents. Everything here relates exclusively to your account, not to the building.

How do I get to my profile

In the top right, click your name → "Profile" (or visit the "Profile" page from the sidebar menu).

What information do I see

The top of the profile shows basic account details — these are read-only:

FieldMeaning
NameYour full name as recorded by the HOA chairman
EmailThe address where you receive notifications and which you use to sign in
RoleOwner / Tenant / Chairman / Vote counter / Maintenance
You cannot change these details yourself

You cannot edit your name or email — these fields are managed by the HOA chairman. If you need a change (marriage, change of surname, new email), contact the chairman.

Reason: the data must match the title deed and the building's records to guarantee the validity of voting.

Changing your password

This section you can manage yourself.

  1. In your profile, find the "Change password" block
  2. Fill in:
FieldRequiredExplanation
Current passwordYesYour current password, used to verify your identity
New passwordYesAt least 6 characters
Confirm new passwordYesSame as the previous field
  1. Click "Save"

OpenResi:

  • Verifies the current password
  • Checks that the new password has at least 6 characters and that both new fields match
  • Saves the change immediately — at your next sign-in you enter the new password
Pick a strong password

Even though OpenResi only requires 6 characters, we recommend at least 8 characters combining letters, digits, and a symbol — for example Bytovka2026!.

If you've forgotten your current password

The application currently has no "Forgot password" feature. You must contact the HOA chairman, who will reset your account and send you a new activation invitation.

App language

OpenResi supports two languages:

  • Slovak (default)
  • English

You switch the language in the top-right navigation by clicking the 🌐 / SK / EN icon. The choice is reflected in the URL (/sk/ or /en/).

Language is not tied to your account

Currently the language setting is not stored in your profile — it is only saved in your browser. If you sign in from another device, the language is derived from your browser's preferences or from the installation's default language.

Appearance (light / dark mode)

From your profile, or via the navigation toggle, you can switch between:

  • Light — white background, black text
  • Dark — dark background, white text — easier on the eyes in the evening
  • System — follows your operating system setting

The choice is stored in your browser — on the next sign-in from the same device, the mode will be the same.

Notifications

The "Notifications" section is described separately in Notifications.

Consents and GDPR

The "Consents" section is described in Consent for data processing.

Push notifications (browser)

If you have a browser that supports push notifications (Chrome, Firefox, Safari on desktop), you can enable instant alerts even without OpenResi being open.

In your profile, click "Allow push notifications" — the browser will prompt you to confirm. Once allowed:

  • You receive notifications directly on your computer's or phone's desktop
  • You do not need to have the app open
  • You can turn them off at any time with the same button
Push vs. email

You always receive an email if you have notifications enabled for that event type. Push is a complement — an instant alert, but only when installed in your browser.

Sign out from all devices

We currently do not support manually signing out from all sessions. If you suspect that someone else has access to your account:

  1. Change your password in the "Change password" section
  2. Contact support (support@open-resi.app)

A "Sign out from all devices" feature is on the roadmap.
